I love to tell you about new promising and exclusive festivals. If you plan to go nearby Naples next friday and does not know what to do, the Wavinba Festival is the right festival for you if you want to know more about the local culture!
Wavinba festival ?
The Wavìnba festival takes place in Bacoli, located 20 kilometers west from Naples (Italy). Its birth is an answer to all the people still living on this beautiful land who are as well lovers of music, dance, art – in its wide definition, and have difficulties to find a place with all that and good vibes.
Another goal of Wavìnba is to bring new outlsiders to discover the place and the very special and unique experiences promoted by this festival. Participate and contribute to an art festival by talking and interacting with people from the community and beeing involved in all kind of realities.
Art is a good medium to bring people together, make them exchange experiences and, in the end, make the comunities evolve: locals, young, visitors, families and more traditionnal peoples can exchange more easily through the festival’s eye.
The festival’s Genesis
The “Edition zero” took place in October 2015. Even though it could be considered as a trial its was already a successful one: beyond the limited promotion and small glitches every festival organisation team meet during its first edition, these two days of music were able to attract and captivate 700 visitors from ages 14 to 70. The first day was dedicated to rock music and the second to traditional southern Italian music.
As for every serious festival starting theses days, the festival was acting on their visitor’s awareness on environmental issues by promoting sustainability: part of the construction material was recycled, visitors were financialy encouraged to re-use their disposable glasses and aluminum cans were recycled as well.
Wavinba 2016 edition
The festival will take place on July 1st and will start at 18:00 with figurative expositions and interactive activities. Musics bands will accompany the lucky visitors till late night. For those who’d like and idea of what the scenary looks like, you can have a look at The Green Shade: a green space between the mediterranean sea and the Miseno lake, surrounded by typical flora: bamboo trees and grape plants.
This edition of the Wavìnba Festival is dedicated to women’s art. Following a reflection based on this quote: “everyone should be able to satisfy his own needs in the same way and with the same effort”, and knowing that women from south Europa do not live this equality yet, Wavinba wish to play a part in reaching gender equality. This year’s festival will be a place where women will show their creations, demonstrate their talent, amaze and enhance good feelings through art.
To demonstrate its pure will to share, the festival entrance is free! Three music artists, dancing arial acts and art exhibitions will be presented at the festival. The concerts will be streamed live so any curious unable to reach this marvelous site, could still pamper her/his ears with the live performances of: PMS, Fede ‘n’ Marlen and Flo. This looks very promising, and obviously the best way to enjoy the festival would be on site.
I will tell you a bit more about the artists playing in the festival during the week. In the meantime I encourage you to book your friday, and have look at the train stations and hotel arround the festival site!
